This is an old board i bought and did up. I decided to base it on an element design because I liked it and knew I could easily use stancils to make it.

How to Apply Griptape to a Skateboard Deck

Learn the step by step process for applying griptape to a skateboard deck. We’ve broken it down into 6 simple steps. If you are unsure about how to grip a deck, ask someone for help.

1. Prepare the deck to be gripped. Remove all shrink wrap and stickers from the board.
2. Remove the paper backing from the grip tape and flip the paper so that the shiny side is facing the gritty side.
3. Start at one end and begin to apply the griptape to the deck. Work out any air bubbles that may show up.
4. Scrape the outline of the skateboard deck into the top of the board.
5. Begin to trim away the excess griptape by bringing the razor blad up through the bottom. Trace around the board until you have completed the whole shape.
6. Remove excess grip and poke the holes out from the bottom and then the top.
